Trapped in Loki's body, Thor has been banished to Hades and made prisoner of Mephisto, sending Sif and the Warriors Three to his rescue; They attempt to save Thor, however Mephisto's magical powers and legions of demonic creatures prove too much for them; Taking advantage of the fact that he has access to Loki's magical might, Thor focuses this power to free himself from the block of ice that Mephisto had frozen him into; Thor then challenges Mephisto, who boasts that Loki is on Earth ruining his good name; Thor battles Loki, hoping that his half-brother can be separated from the mystic hammer in his hands; When the opportunity presents itself, Thor charges at Loki and lets him pummel him; As Thor had hoped, when the 60 second time limit that Thor's body can be separated from his hammer had come to pass, Loki's body reverts back into the form of Donald Blake which then causes the body-switch to reverse itself restoring Thor back to his own body.

Thor flies Hercules to Avengers Mansion, where he has Iron Man try to probe his mind to find out what happened to him, but Hercules comes to and lashes out smashing everything around him until Krista calms him down; Back in Asgard, Hildegarde forces her way into Odin's chambers, only to find it empty; She searches until she finds the Vizier, who tells her that Odin has vanished, and no one knows where he is; Thor had Hercules make their way back to the tunnels where he was attacked; Hercules opens up a piece of the tunnel, letting in the light, and causing the demons to flee.

Back in a Midtown Hospital, Sif sees Thor with Jane Foster and realizes just how much he still loves her; The doctor tells Sif that there's not much hope, and that Jane has a week or two at the most; Sif returns to Asgard seeking Odin, only to find him gone; Thor flies off to fight Armak.

Thor and his comrades attempt to breach the enormous wall around the Doomsday Star, to no avail; Back in Asgard, a cloaked figure watches them, along with Balder and Karnilla with great interest; While he is watching, they vanish in the blink of an eye; The second Thor shows Balder that the Enchantress and Executioner where phantasms, but Karnilla senses something is wrong; When Thor and friends come to, the Starjammer is gone and they are standing in a city behind the wall they sought to breach; They are attacked by robotic Techno trackers, and during the battle, Hogun, Volstagg, and Recorder are separated from Thor, Sif, and Fandral. Cameos by the Enchantress and the Executioner.

Thor tries to free himself from his bonds, but cannot; The Soul Survivors tell him the origin of themselves and of the Doomsday Star; That they are the ones that intercepted Odin; They then take Thor's group to see him; They are using Odin as a battery and they have almost drained him dry; Back in Asgard, the second Thor leads Balder and Karnilla into Asgard, then assaults them; Thor is speaking to a very weak Odin, when Odin apparently dies; In his rage, Thor begins to tear through all the Techno-trackers with ease, as Hogun, Volstagg, and Recorder arrive; With nothing else to do, K'rll places himself in the Spirit Mold and gives form to the remaining Odinpower still in the batteries, creating a beast made of pure Odinforce.
