Thor and his comrades attempt to breach the enormous wall around the Doomsday Star, to no avail; Back in Asgard, a cloaked figure watches them, along with Balder and Karnilla with great interest; While he is watching, they vanish in the blink of an eye; The second Thor shows Balder that the Enchantress and Executioner where phantasms, but Karnilla senses something is wrong; When Thor and friends come to, the Starjammer is gone and they are standing in a city behind the wall they sought to breach; They are attacked by robotic Techno trackers, and during the battle, Hogun, Volstagg, and Recorder are separated from Thor, Sif, and Fandral. Thor tries to free himself from his bonds, but cannot; The Soul Survivors tell him the origin of themselves and of the Doomsday Star; That they are the ones that intercepted Odin; They then take Thor's group to see him; They are using Odin as a battery and they have almost drained him dry; Back in Asgard, the second Thor leads Balder and Karnilla into Asgard, then assaults them; Thor is speaking to a very weak Odin, when Odin apparently dies; In his rage, Thor begins to tear through all the Techno-trackers with ease, as Hogun, Volstagg, and Recorder arrive; With nothing else to do, K'rll places himself in the Spirit Mold and gives form to the remaining Odinpower still in the batteries, creating a beast made of pure Odinforce.

Loki now rules Asgard in Odin's stead, by his own royal decree contained in the Cask of Sovereignty, and even Thor must obey him; Loki knows that he must dispose of Odin if he wants to keep the throne; Loki then reveals that he was behind the empty army, and that Kroda was the second Thor, and that the document from the Cask was a forgery; The Enchantress and Executioner steal the sleeping form of Odin; Sif, Thor, and Recorder head to Karnilla's domain to find Balder, while the Warriors Three are charged to protect Odin; Thor's group in then assaulted by two Storm Giants, and Thor defeats them both.

When Thor arrives, he meets Bennet Barlow, Damocles' brother; Bennet tells Thor their history; Meanwhile, Damocles oversees the final construction of his cobalt cannon; And in a prison, a mysterious figure is broken out by a monstrous inhuman creature; Bennet is leading Thor to his old home in hope of finding a clue to Damocles' current whereabouts; But Damocles is waiting with his completed cobalt cannon, and blasts Thor, then flies away.
